Novena for a Death Anniversary: How to Pray
Praying a novena isn't difficult. It takes a willing spirit and a focused mind. Follow the instructions below to guide your family through the individual novena days.
1. Set Your Days
Count backwards to ensure the last day of the novena is on the death anniversary. To do the novena on the anniversary day, simply start on that day.
2. Create a Sacred Space
Designate a quiet area in your house. Include a photo of the deceased, a candle and possibly flowers or a sacred text.
3. Say Your Intention
Every day of the novena prayer, say the deceased's name and the intention you're offering the novena for. You can also say who you're offering the novena for.
4. Say the Prayers
Pray for about 10-15 minutes. You can pray by yourself or get your family and friends together and pray as a group.
